Wednesday turned out to be an eventful day. We went to playgroup at the church and while we were there, Austin was running to me, didn't see a basketball, and rolled/fell over it. It really didn't look like much of a fall, but the way he reacted made it seem pretty bad. He kept crying and saying that he wanted to move his leg, but he couldn't. He didn't want me touch it. So, we went home to see if maybe lying on the couch and watching a show would help. It did, in a way. It was distracting, but he would still scream every once in a while. So Aaron came home to watch Isaac and Cameron, and Austin and I went to the doctor. Thankfully they got us in immediately, took an x-ray, and that's when we found out that he had a double fracture on his Tibia. Poor kid. No wonder he was screaming. I'm amazed he calmed down ever at all.
Our pediatrician referred us to a specialist to get the cast on. That was an experience. Austin had woken up that day at 5am. It was now, at this point, 12:30 and he hadn't eaten lunch yet. So we had a triple threat going on. Little sleep, no lunch, very hurt leg. BUT, we made it through and now he has his very own blue cast. He'll have to wear it for four weeks. He's not supposed to put any weight on his leg...which makes for some interesting scenarios. Using the potty perhaps one of the main ones.
He's really doing pretty great about not being able to move much so far. It still hurts him, and I think that's the best counter to his maybe wanting to move around more. He's still gets bummed about things--like not being able to go down the little Tykes slide Cameron got for Christmas. But he has informed me that his Spider-Man has a blue cast on his leg, just like him! Amazing timing and coincidence. :)
Isaac is really helping out a lot. He's taking a lot of pride in being Austin's helper. To the degree where he gets angry at me if I don't let him help Austin enough. Very entertaining. I'm just hoping this desire to really help, and play with Austin while he's sitting down continues on for the next month.
Having these blue rocking chairs is making this a lot easier. Especially at night. Last night he couldn't sleep laying down, but could sleep laying on this chair.

aww so sad to see happy, silly Austin with no smile on his face :( Hope the next month isn't too terrible for you all!
