Yesterday was the first day of the annual Minnesota State Fair. The fair is also known as the Great Minnesota Get Together and features “everything on a stick.” Such stick-items include classics such as cotton candy, hot dogs, and corn dogs, but also includes Texas steak dinners, fries, chocolate covered cheesecake, spaghetti, deep fried candy bars, fish, chocolate covered bananas, and apparently religion (apparently some religion took the symbol of the cross to a whole new level).
Deep Fried Candy Bar (Snickers®)
We went there and spent too much money, but had a blast (thanks to a coupon book). We (either us or the boys) ate:
- Gyros
- Funnel Cake
- Hot Dogs
- Bratwurst
- Smoothies
- Root Beer (in large quantities)
- Sweet Potato Fries (BIG disappointment)
- Garlic & Parmesan Texas Twister (potato cut as giant curly fry, wrapped around a stick)
- Deep Fried Candy Bar (Snickers®)
Another fun thing about the fair is that many vendors come out to demonstrate their products. In rural Minnesota, that means lots of tractors and other farm equipment.
Finally, we took the boys to a play area and let them ride on several rides. Additionally, we let Isaac go on the Super-Jump which the video will show below. The boys had a LOT of fun and we will be sad to not be able to go anytime in the near future. We will miss Minnesota, but are happy to move on.

How fun! Love the video of Isaac and his perma-smile on the super jump. We are excited to see you guys in a few days.
Looks like so much fun!
looks like fun. Can't wait to see you haven't and won't tell the kids you are coming. A fun surprise for them.
It looks like the boys had a blast, which I know means fun for the parents as well. Glad you were able to enjoy your last MN State Fair.
Looks like you guys had a ton of fun!! (and maybe a little bit of heartburn too...)
