Once There Was a Snow...Train?

Over the past few weeks, we have gotten a ton of snow.  Which, as great as it may sound for playing, does not always results in much outdoors time.  Why?  Because it is too cold outside!  It is one thing to be in Utah and have snow and 25-30 degree weather.  It is quite another to be in Minnesota and have snow and 5-10 degree weather.  Aside from having to be in that weather, Minnesota snow also is lousy.  Unlike other warmer places, it is so cold here that the snow typically has no moisture in it (too cold) and thus does not clump together.  Even snowballs are next to impossible to do.

Yesterday, however, it was in the mid-30's, so when Aaron got home from work, he went outside to play with the boys.  We intended to make a snowman, but despite the fact that warm weather had melted enough of the snow to allow it to stick together, it was still too dry to roll up like you would do to make a snowman.  We could stick it together, but height was a problem.  So, instead, Aaron settled on a snow-train.  Thomas the Tank Engine was the result and the boys liked it.  Of course, they are not the world's toughest critics.  Aaron could have made a "snow-pile of snow" and they would have been impressed.  Nevertheless, it was a lot of fun.

Cute. That's probably way cooler to them than a snowman any day

I'm pretty impressed.

We had one great fall of snow that was perfect for snowmen, and snowball fights, but yup, the rest has been dry and tons of icy stuff that isn't fun for anything that I know of.

Did you get a blizzard this weekend? We had warnings, but then nothing came.
